Why Do Telomeres Matter?
You might have heard the word telomeres before — but what are they, and why should you care?
Telomeres are tiny protective caps at the ends of your chromosomes — a bit like the plastic tips on shoelaces that stop them from fraying. Every time your cells divide, your telomeres get a little shorter. Over time, as they become too short, your cells can’t function as well. This is part of the natural ageing process.
Chronological Age vs Biological Age
Your chronological age is the number of years, months, and days since you were born. It’s the number of candles on your birthday cake.
